I want to buy something, for about $8,000 dollars, but my parents said I need to pay for half. Preferably, I want to pay for most of it, because my parents are already saving for my college tuition.

Yeah pretty much this. This is how much i saved from my last job which i worked for 5months, got paid 7.15, worked for like 28 hours a week. & then i saved like 500 in the bank the first paycheck all went to the bank & then i saved like 100 dollars every paycheck. & the rest of the money i used it on shopping for stupid christmas & other expensces i had to pay.  So you won't reach 8,000 at all but half maybe if you don't spend nada. & work 30 hours atleast & get more than 7.15.
