I am depressed. I have been before. This time I am on a medication that sometimes causes depression. I have no idea what is causing it the pills or my own brain. The doctor told me to tell them if I get depressed but I do not want to because the medication is only temporary. I just don't know what to do.

What is causing you to be depressed? Is it just one thing? Could you fix it yourself?
If something in your day caused you to be depressed, then it is your own brain, but if it is out of nothing, then it probably is because of the medication.
If the doctor said to tell them if you get depressed, I advise that you do. It is not smart if you wait it out when the doctor told you specifically to tell then if you are depressed.

I know the doctor will take me off the medication immediately if I tell them I am depressed. And I am not about to do that.

I know the doctor will take me off the medication immediately if I tell them I am depressed. And I am not about to do that.
Why do you not want to? Why is it so important that you stay on the medication?
