there is a certain veterinary clinic that I want to work for, and also do my externship at.  On their website in the employment section it lists to ways to apply- submit your info and they will send you an app, or mail your resume along with a cover letter.  It doesnt say to go to the clinic and pick up an application there.

Would it be wrong for me to just walk in and ask for an application?

I need to expedite this process and filling out an application today would be much faster than waiting for them to mail one to me.   I also need to talk with someone about the externship, so I figure if I go in and the person that I need to talk happens to be available I could talk with them then, or I can leave my name and number with the receptionist.

I dont want to be rude or too forward, but I also want to come across as motivated and willing to do what it takes to get a job with them.

Opinions, or experiences with this sort of thing?

Bring in a resume. They obviously want one, so just asking for an app isnt going to help much.

I dont have a copy of my resume right now, but I will tomorrow.  I was going to go in tonight and ask for an application, and since I highly doubt that they will be able to speak with me then and there, I was going to see if I could set up an appointment and take my resume in tomorrow.

If i could just get my damn printer working, I'd be able to take my resume with me tonight.

ETA-  I expect that they will want to see my resume, but it's not required to apply.

I would walk in and take a resume with you.  Mention what you're interested in and ask if there are any special steps that you need if you are seeking an externship.  If there is someone there (or they can direct you to someone that knows more) about the process, then you can ask further questions.  Just know what you're asking, and show yourself as responsible and actually interested in a position.

And if they only repeat what is said online, you can just thank them for their time... I don't think it would affect your chances in anyway... and I think that if anything, it would only better your chances if you actually spoke to them (in my personal opinion, I may be wrong)

Your right, its probably not required to apply.

However, most places dont even consider people who dont submit a resume. Im not saying they will just write you off, however, they may not even look at your app till you come back with your resume.

Like I said, I will be taking the resume in tomorrow.  I just want to go in to fill out the application tonight.  I dont expect them to look at the application tonight, since It'll be 9 or 10 before I can get there.

I may just pick up the app and take it in tomorrow along with the resume.

yes, but thats not what I was asking.  lol

I simply want to know if it would be too presumptuous of me to walk in and ask for an app, rather than submit my info and have them send me one as per the website nstructions
