Ok i have a solo this year ending with a tripple octave D for 12 counts at 120.  and it seems that when i hold my horn up perfectly it wont come out, but while sitting with a downward angle it comes out perfectly.

Any advice? experiences like mine?''

i understand the downward angle thing, because that adjusts the angle at which the mouthpiece hits your lip and makes it easier to hit the higher part of the mouthpiece. Does your director have a problem with you doing that?

open up your throat more, sit up taller, and relax your shoulders.

use a lot of air and try again...buuut, just ask your director if you can change your mouth placement on the piece . you might have to do a weird positioning thing with your neck etc...or just practice your ass off...oh, and make sure your neck muscles are good and relaxed.

almost forgot.

when you go higher you probably tend to tense up your mouth. do the EXACT OPPOSITE. your lips have to be good and relaxed in order for them to vibrate faster. but, you do have to tense the corners of your mouth.

When you say triple octave D do you mean the note above the top of the Bb 2 octave scale? The downward angle works because the air is getting more cut off and so it's traveling faster but thinner. You want to play it with correct posture.

it's the same basic principal yes. I know I've been playing flute and piccolo and it's a bit harder with instruments such as a trumpet though getting the sound out as opposed to a woodwind.

Just so you know; you don't play guitar with your neck bro
you play it with your bumbum- Synyster Gates
