Everybody already assumes that once I get to college I'm going to drink. Why? I don't get it. "Oh because a lot of people do." "Because you're that type of person." And my personal favorite, "It's because you easily follow." The last one really hurt me as it came from my boyfriend, and considering we had sex when we did and he has trust issues and is afraid already that something might happen between me and another guy up there it just...it was a horrible statement (he then was quick to apologize as he say it made me upset and how I took it as for him to mean I'm easy sexually as well, but I'm NOT). I'm not the type to drink. In the past 18 years of my life I've barely had two sips of alcohol....And to be honest, I don't want to, mostly because I'm scared. Both sides of my family are overwhelmed with alcoholics, and it doesn't take much for my older siblings to get drunk...I don't know my tolerance for it and I don't want to find myself in a position I don't want to be in because of alcohol. Why does everyone assume me going off to college automatically means I'll drink???  It bothers me to no end.

It's college. They will always think that. Most people that go to college, do start drinking. You could be one of the very few that dont, and that's still okay.

yes most people do. but it doesn't mean that you will or have to. some people don't and thats cool. alot of it has to do with freedom, soem people are just now gettign it and so they do all these things that someone who has had the freedom before hand or has no intrest wouldn't even consider.

i think its your own decision what you want to make of youself in college. you dont have to drink! thats peer pressure!
you do what you think is best for you, becaue it will hopefully be best in the end.

People drinking in college is almost one of those times when you say everyone does it and your right, but that (when i say it) covers that one time you try it. Few people drink to excess but the casul drinking to infrequent drinking happens all the time. Who cares what people think, you have your reasons your not going to drink so dont and then they will go well i guess we were wrong you didnt drink, good day to you.
