And as for me not mattering, who the fuck are you to make such comments. I'm the one working on my masters degree, going to law school, getting an army commission, and entering politics in about 10 years. So i think i can safely say that as a whole i matter far more than you do.

I think people should be proud of their heritage, and if rap/hip hop/etc evolved from it, then fine.  As far as being degrading to women and portrayal of crimes, there'splenty of 'white' media that does this, too.  Almost all the girls I know who are black are very strong women and don't feel they have to adhere to what they see on TV (in fact I think white women are much worse in that regard). I think black people are just as capable of separating reality from fiction as any other race.
