It corresponds to language. Anybody of any race can speak any language. Hell, there are Dominicans out there who look like Akon. And then they're the near white ones descended from Spanish people. Most if not a good chunk of Latin people in the West are mestizo (thats european and native...native being amerindian, aztec, carib, taino or whatever) and alot more than are acknowledged have African ancestry too.
My aunt(by marrying my uncle) is darker than me and she's 100% Cubana, accent and all. So yeah...that's my beef with the terms "hispanic" "latino" and their use in the same context as "black" and "white". Agree? Disagree?
All true. Just because i call myself latino people think i am from south america, when my parents are actually from Spain.

it doesn't just correspond to language, it responds to a cultural heritage. They all have in common the fact that they are a mix of Indian, Spanish, and sometimes black (for the Dominicans).

What constitutes latino blood could be lots of different things. Are Hatians are different race because they speak French? 'Hispanic' countries have many shades of grey. Are Americans a different race from the English, because they're's mroe diversity (I don't know taht for a fact. feel free to sub that witha better example)

How else could you categorize a person of a Spanish-speaking nation? Their rooted together by the conquista. I'm not against what you're saying, but I can't think of a better solution.
