At the moment, I have all my RSS feeds on my netvibes page. This works pretty well because I find it very easy to use, but they're mounting up and I'm thinking it might be good to get myself an RSS reader.

Can anyone recommend a good one?

It must be:

  • Free
  • Easy to use
  • Damn easy to install (or otherwise, please explain how in words of one syllable)

Netvibes has an autodetect where you can put in a URL and it'll try to find the RSS feed; I'd love to be able to do that too.

Suggestions? Anyone?

I just use my Opera RSS thing. You can also use Firefox's Live Bookmarks feature. Or you can google for RSS Bandit.

I actually find Google Reader to be the best news reader.  Are you going for a web-based app, or would you rather a standalone desktop one?

I'd prefer a web-based app or a browser extension (I use firefox).

In that case, Google Reader for web-based, or if you want to try a Firefox extension you could try one of these (I don't use FF-based RSS so I can't recommend any particular one).
