I'm a Christian and have a couple of gay friends. Now I don't have a problem with them being gay at all but sometimes other Christians do.

I sometimes talk to one of my gay friends about Christianity. Whenever he has a problem, I tell him to pray about it. I also pray for him too. Although one day he just mentioned that the church don't accept gays, and basically I didn't know what to say.

I kind of need some help because I just want to know what I could say to either of them. The sort of things I can say, trying not o contradict myself because it is quite hard. I can tell them God loves them, they are his children. But then comes along the fact about church's opinion on homosexuality.

I want to try and tell them about God in a positive way without them being put down by other Christians saying they don't like the fact they're gay therefore they don't like them. Now I know all Christians aren't like that. I aren't like that and I'm Christian.
Sometimes I just think what can I say to him?
How can I help him by telling him about God?
Will what I'm telling him be right if the church doesn't accept him?
Is it okay for me to tell him God loves him?

I just find it really hard, please help.

Yes. If God wanted everyone to be the same, he would have said so. God loves everyone.

God loves us, he just doesn't love our sin. It's a sin to be gay, unfortunately. The only way to repent from that sin is to (try) and become straight. As ridiculous as that sounds, it is what it is.

God's not the one that doesn't want him there. It's the people that wont accept him.

Maybe you could tell him that the church is lead by man and man is falliable and wrong about being against homosexuality because according to the church we are all gods creatures (great and small) and made in his image thus he has given us the capacity for love and man should not step in the way of god's creation

Just tell him Christianity is still very backwards in many areas, and if he wants to he can just pick and choose which parts of the bible he wants to believe in like most Christians do.

I'm pretty sure it's just a sin to be a sodomite.

Deal with his homosexuality the same way you would deal with someones engaging in fully consensual pre-marital sexual activity in the context of loving relationships.

No. Not most. And those who do won't go to Heaven after they die anyway, so what's the point..

Well I only know 2 or 3 Christians but I know they don't believe in most of the bible, and a lot of the ones I've spoken to online don't either. I just assumed it was common practice to ignore a lot of the bible.
