Gliese 581 C. A second Earth? Maybe. There's also Gliese 581 D. However. C is too hot, a bit like Venus only this planet does not orbit around it's star, and the temperature isn't as extreme as Venus. Instead, one side faces the sun at all times, and the other side does not. So if you'd like to see a sunset here, you'd have to get your ass up and drive to the other side. Which is understandable and doable. http://www.space-art.co.uk/images/artwork/exoplanets/Super-Earth.jpg" target="_top">http://http://www.space-art.co.uk/images/artwork/exoplanets/Super-Earth.jpg D is too cold. http://a52.g.akamaitech.net/f/52/827/1d/www.space.com/images/strange_spc_exoplanet_02.jpg" target="_top">http://http://a52.g.akamaitech.net/f/52/827/1d/www.space.com/images/strange_spc_exoplanet_02.jpg But think about it. We have places like this in Earth. I mean the Antarctic? It's fucking freezing up there, yet life exists. Same goes for Deserts. They lack water, and the temperature is pretty intense, yet life is still there. Therefore, it is very possible that life just may be out there. Kepler is said to be released in 2009. This telescope will scan through stars and galaxies so that when looking for Earth-like planets, such as we are now -only with a more shitlike telescope -our findings will result to be a bit more accurate. And exciting. Oh and don't get me started on Mars. This planet has been giving signs of life for quite some time. Scientists are still working on discovering some hard evidence. BUT this could mean that we've had two examples of life. Right here, in our very own Solar System. 2012?!? I think not. We've only begun. There's so much more out there. So many possibilities of intelligent life out there in the Cosmos. Discuss.

I've always found it absurd that in the entirety of the universe, human beings and the other creatures that inhabit the Earth were the only living things out there. I strongly believe that there is, maybe not close to us, another planet or other solar systems where life exists.

bacteria is ALL those planets have... maybe in a few billion years they'll have developed into actual creatures, but Earth will have died out by then... so there's no point in researching it...

Which is exactly what Gliese 581 C and Gliese 581 D have the possibility of proving.
