there's the link to the first topic i posted. now that i know about safe mode, it still won't let me onto it, because the administrator account is the one with the password. is there any way i could safely crash it, but keep everything on there, or is there another "safe mode" type thing?

Do you get something like the image below in Safe Mode? Does it say Administrator, or just your normal name?

It might do, Vista's trickier. From your PM:
but instead of having one that says admin. and one that has another name, i changed the admin. name to my name and that's the main account that i can't get into.
So do you see nothing actually called Administrator like in my screenshot? Does it just show one (your) account?
That is a problem to do that because it can cause other problems with Windows, but I'm not too sure that's what you actually did.

I'm not sure, there is a way to change the password, but it's fairly complicated and you can screw things up. You have to burn a CD with a small linux distro that will reset the password, but I'm not sure whether this works for Vista.
There is also a guide that you can use with the original install disk with XP here, but like I said that's for XP and might not work with Vista (and more importantly it might cause other problems or lose your data).
In this case I'd advise you to pay the GeekSquad or a local computer expert and get them to do it for you. 30 or 40 dollars is quite expensive for this, but that above steps are not easy and may not work with Vista, which is why I'd say pay for it. Ask your parents if they could lend you the money or pay for it. If they ask you what your password was before just make something up because clearly knowing the current one won't help anyway.
