Talk to him about it when he's feeling a little better. If he's depressed, people's sex drives can be reduced a lot. He might not be up to it at all. If he's having a good day or things start to look up, bring it up in a gentle way. Not like "I wanna have sex, do you?" way. Talk to him about it and see what he says, let him know you're fine with it if he doesn't want to, as well.
