Not everyone has a safe place for their cat to play around in. Should those cats just be put down? I mean, where else would they go that's safe?...
Of course not, but people should not get them in the first place if they can't provide a safe outdoor place for them. Just my opinion
No, I get it, and I don't mind your opinion differing from my own, I just don't understand where all these cats who don't have a safe place to roam are supposed to go. With so many animals already sitting in shelters, it's clear that there just aren't enough places for them so I guess I just think it's better that they be kept indoors and loved rather than put down.
More effort needs to be made in to stopping cats from reproducing so much, I know people who have let their cats have multiple litters. I don't know about shelters where you live but where I live they won't let you have a cat unless you have a garden for it to roam in.
I've never gotten a cat from a shelter so I don't know what they look for, actually. These shelters would rather keep a cat and put it down than give it to someone without a backyard? That just seems so odd to me but, again, just my thoughts on the matter. But I agree that people need to better control their pets and not let them have so many offspring. My neighbors are awful...God, at one point, they must have had a few dozen cats, all of which would just run around wherever they pleased. I remember our bus driver hit one and it was just a kitten, that poor woman was just heartbroken. Some of them came up to our house looking for food, too. Poor things weren't always fed, didn't really have a place to stay, and had no clue what affection was.

I also have 2 cats and they never go outside, they are very content roaming around the house. So dont worry you are just protecting it.

The main shelters where I live will never put down a healthy cat. There is lots of room for them to roam around in and plenty of volunteers to give them love (I'm one of them), so I think even if they never get adopted, which is pretty rare, they still lead good lives. To whoever said that people who let there cats roam around outside are dumb and irresponsible, why?
