Of those, I have to pick the Grateful Dead. I am a big jam band fan, and they started it all. They are one of my favorites.

But, a classic rock band that should be on there, the Allman Brothers.

There is music after the 60's and 70's you know . . .

I called it a CLASSIC ROCK poll for a reason
  use you brain

Classic Rock existed before and after the 60's and 70's.

 yea?
 how so?

rock did not exist before the 60s
and after the 70s it wasn't considered classic rock anymore

The Crickets?

It simply diversified more in the 80's. If only a certain type of rock is "classic" rock then explain all the timeless songs, albums, and artists from the 80's and on?

That is just what it is called

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classic_rock

i didn't wake up one day and decide what classic rock was
