I have this really irrational (I hope!) fear of going to hell. I always kind of have. People say that if you are a good person, you will go to heaven. Or when I talk to friends about it, they will say, "I'm a good person, I don't kill people or steal or anything, so I don't think I'll go to hell." But then I wonder, does that make you a good person, just by not doing anything "bad"? Most people DON'T kill people, steal, or whatnot, does that make most people good? Are we good purely by not doing bad? I start to wonder, what the hell do I do to make myself good? I barely EVER volunteer places or do things like that. I like to consider myself a good person, but I feel like I don't do anything extra special that any other decent person wouldn't do that would really constitute as good. I don't know what I'm talking about. lol But anyway, what do you think makes a person, good? Do you think a person is either good or bad? Do you think there is a middle ground where a person is neither? If so, what do you think would happen to those in the middle in terms of heaven and hell? a good person is someone who can make mistakes, and correct themselves and apologize to those they've hurt. someone who isn't fake, who is kind, and respects everyone to the best of their ability. i think i'm a decent person. mostly. ha. i don't think there is a middle ground.

Look, if you FEEL like you would be fulfilled and feel better if you volunteered, then go ahead and do it. But if you don't feel like thats what youm ust do, then don't do it. I don't believe in hell or heaven, but if those places exist, then youd go to heaven for being spiritually fulfilled because you did EVERYTING you believed was what you must do...

First off, if you aren't Christian, then you're already screwed. Then you can't Lust, Glutton, be Wrathful, Envious, or any of the other Seven Deadly Sins. Then you can't be gay, or have ever said that Jesus, god, or the Holy Spirit are non existent. After that, always respect your parents, love thy neighbor, and all the be good person stuff. I don't know about if you only don't do bad. Not being bad doesn't necessitate that you are good. I don't think you are good unless you do the extra nine yards of picking up that paper the old guy dropped or helping the needy or whatever. If you do the bare minimum to be not bad, but not necessarily good, then I think you're average, and only worthy of a purgatory type of existence.

"Then you can't be gay, or have ever said that Jesus, god, or the Holy Spirit are non existent." There are many christans who said that befor they were saved. And now they are going to heaven. Not because of anything they'v done, but because of what Jesus has done for them. and all the rest of us.[John 3:16]

It is one of the unforgiveable sins to deny the existence of god or any of the Trinity. It's one of the few things that Jesus doesn't forgive.

Well he must have worked something out with them, then.
I don't think you understand what I am saying. It is one of the UNFORGIVABLE sins. There's no "working it out" or striking a deal. The mistake that's the easiest to make will get you sent to Hell. Full stop.
You don't understand what the unforgiveable sin is, and if you're so certain that saying "God doesn't exist" is unforgiveable, give me a chapter and verse, please.
Why do things, like the concept of unforgivable sin, have to be "worked out", can never mean what they really say? Why does one have to go deeper? Why does englightnement surge only after long periods of thought, where you play around with semantics, meanings, history, unfounded thought experiments and conclusions based only on the unexamined confidence you have of yourself and others?
