who you love is your choice, and after all it is what is inside that matters, not what is used to wrap it. and as far as you being disgusted, feel free to, you have every right to be, but as i respect you for doing so, keep it to yourself, like plumc0la said, "we dont patronize you for being straight"
AND NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO SAY THAT A COUPLE CANNOT WED BECAUSE OF THEIR CHOICE IN A LOVER, IT'S JUST NOT RIGHT! IS THIS NOT AMERICA? WHAT THE FUCK IS FREEDOM IF ITS NOT FOR EVERYONE? ITS NOT LIKE THEY SPECIALIZE WHICH AMERICAN HAS RIGHTS AND WHICH DOESNT IN THE DECLARATION.. THAT PISSES ME OFF!

But would you allow homosexuals to have their rights even if you didn't support them?

Yes I would, I mean they are people, just because I don't agree with them, doesn't mean they should be limited and such.

But you just said in your post, you didn't support gay marriage. I do not support "don't ask, don't tell" i don't think gays should have to serve in the military, when we can't even get married! this country DOES NOT support me, so why should i have to serve IT? Fuck Bush!!

I served my country in the US Army. I worked with GLB, and they fight as hard as any other soldier. As far as their personal life, let them keep it to themselves.

The only rational way to believe that sexuality is a choice is if one has choice over their own sexuality.  I am straight - I never decided to be attracted to the opposite sex - it simply is the way I am something I discovered as my hormones raged through me.  I have no reason to believe that it is different for anyone else because it is this way for me.  Thus the original poster must be attracted to the same sex and the opposite sex thus for them it is a choice for which attraction they act on - it is the only case in which the OP's opinion that is a choice could survive even the most rudimentary self-scrutiny.

Is this the case OP?

I must say you hold a good point, you have a right to state you opinion, as long as you do it respectfully.

But I must disagree, it's been proven to be a genetic thing. And no I didn't choose to be gay, I've been like this since I was little, back then I didn't even know what that stuff was.

But I knew that I felt differently towards guys and girls.

You have no idea what we go through, you're accepted by everyone we aren't,

We aren't disqusted by you. So why are we any different?

I sympathize with you, PinkLotus.

I know how it feels to hold the believe contrary to the societally accepted opinion. People will do as people will do. People will butt in to your affairs, or hop on your case as soon as they find out what your case is. People love to feel righteous.

It hasn't been proven to be anything although the preponderance of evidence suggests an inherited genetic trigger that is activated by environmental conditions.

The problem I have with people like you:

You think, "oh, I don't agree with it and that's it." in a world where everything was fair, it wouldn't matter what your opinion meant. But nowadays, homosexuals aren't treated equally.

Sorry if people talking on behalf of gay people is annoying, but unless it happens, nothing is gonna change, you know.

Oh, and another reason people get pissy...

You say,

But when I notice someone say something that is against the GLBT community everyone jumps on him/her on this site and says, "Don't be such a homophobe!", to tell you the truth, it bothers me a lot.

You're bothered? How do you think I feel when I see someone saying,

I can't help but feel disgusted by their acts and lifestyle. I do believe it is a lifestyle choice. I do not believe that homosexual lust is the same as heterosexual love. I don't believe in homosexuals being able to marry or adopt children. I just don't believe in it at all. I just don't agree. I believe most GLB are the way they are for social rebellion or to be accepted by a specific social group.

In one swift motion you have boldly insulted every homosexual out there.

How does it feel to have people tell me the love I feel for another man is false? That it's subpar to your hetero relationships. It feels like shit.

Also, forming opinions based on false pretenses isn't fair. What if I were to tell you that for as long as I am able to remember I found men attractive? Would you tell me that I made a choice when I was five to like guys instead?

Also, anyone who "chooses" to be gay simply to be accepted {by the gay community, I'm assuming} is lunacy. Tell me one beneficial aspect of being gay.

Hey Lotus, to be totally honest I agree with you, but for two primary different views.
A) There are those who would want their weddings sanctioned by Catholicism and other religions that specifically prohibit homosexuality. You can be gay, but that's like telling a fire department to let people set the station on fire.
B) The Gay community in general is way too aggressive politically for my taste. Not only can we just passively allow it to go on, we are literally forced to look them in the face and say, "I accept you." or else it's not good enough. You bitch so much about your rights, but what about ours? I'm against any movement WHATSOEVER that is constantly in my face, "GO MY WAY GO MY WAY!", why is it not enough to have our own opinions and let it be at that?

We wouldn't protest so much if your fanatics didn't come up with picket signs, shouting GAY IS NOT THE WAY. We just want to be treated as equals by the american gov, and to be LEFT ALONE. You don't see gays crashing weddings screaming about how being straight is evil and disgusting, do you?

Ha ha ha,
Life is a series of choices. A series questions and such. I have realized it. You can make your life hard or easier. Your choice in sexuality is yours. Mine? I never questioned my choice in sexuality, simply because it is obvious that I don't want to be discriminated.

A perfectly fine belief to hold.

Nobody should be allowed to mandate the thoughts of another.

I agree with ONE thing that you said. Homosexual lust isn't the same as heterosexual love. Homosexual LOVE and heterosexual love are no different though. Any two people who believe they are in love should have the right to marry. And if they are financially and emotionally fit and want children they should be able to adopt. They can provide children with a loving and accepting home. And trust me, it's not a choice and a lot of people have a hard time accepting themselves. I know I did. I hid it for years. Homosexuals are not that way because of social rebellion and especially not to fit in. It's so much harder to try to fit when you're gay.

I try not to let anything that people like you say get to me or anything, but seriously you have no idea how bad you can hurt people by saying things like that. Can you imagine living in a world where people didn't accept you because you were straight? A world where you felt like you had to hide who you really are? Can you imagine hating yourself because you just want to be normal, but you just couldn't, all because of the gender that you happen to have feelings for? Can you imagine being picked on for being straight, told that you're doing it to get attention, or knowing that you will never be allowed to marry the one that you love? Can you imagine people not wanting to talk to you and telling you that you're disgusting, have a mental disorder, and are unnatural just because you have feelings for guys?

You can't even begin to fathom anything that homosexuals have to deal with every single day. You're just ignorant and close minded. I wish there was some way for me to make people like you see, just for a little bit how it feels to be unaccepted that way.

I believe it's okay for you to think what you want, my only conflict within your opinion is stating that being homosexual is a choice.
Seriously, unless you've experienced it for yourself, you have no room to talk or even base an opinion upon it. And that BS about it being social rebellion or fitting in with your peers, that's nonesense. Most people that "fit in" hold the same beliefs you do, so why would they even bother?
