Obama and McCain can promise all they want. What will happen -- as happens every time a new president is elected -- is that not much of it will be fulfilled.

During the last main House of Representative election, many of the democrats ran promising to "pulll all troops out of Iraq within 100 days" (that may have been Pelosi that said that), well...that didn't work out too well, did it? And now they have a 9% approval rating.
