Black or African?

Are you sure you are African American? Or are you just plain black American? See, being black and American does not automatically make you African American. Did you, your parents or grandparents emigrate to America from Africa? Where in Africa do you originate from? If you cannot answer yes to the one question or give a location for the second one, YOU ARE NOT AFRICAN American. I'm white, was born and raised in South Africa. Still living there in fact. If I were to move to America and become an American citizen, then I would be an African American. Even though I'm white. Cos I am an African. Can you really say YOU are African? Can you really call yourself an African American?

actually since you're from south africa wouldnt you technically be an afrikaaner?

and doesn't the term African american denote ethnicity for the most part?


cause my family came from africa and iw as born in america so i'm prett suure i'm african american
