Now I know that chocolate is bad for dogs...but how much of it will kill them?

The reason I am asking is because i left I chocolate bar on the bed and then left the room and forgot about it...When i returned I could tell that one of them had knawed on it...It wasnt much but I was wondering if just the little bit that they got would kill them, make them sick, or do nothing at all.

Thanks for the help.

My friend's beagle ate an entire chocolate cake several years ago and is still alive and kicking.

It depends on the weight of the dog. A little bit will not harm them. Most of the time, they will just vomit it up. Your dog will probably be fine. Keep an eye on it. What breed is it?

The dog should be fine. Part of it depends on the dog. If it's a small dog, the dog might get sick. If it's a bigger dog, the dog should be fine.

most dogs will be fine if they eat a bit of chocolate, especially if it is a big dog.

for the average sized dog, it takes about 3 pounds of bakers chocolate to poison them.  A small bit of a diluted chocolate bar will most likely do nothing, unless your dog is very tiny or already has severe health/GI problems.

My yorkie once ate a whole chocolate bar and I was so worried, but she was fine.
If they start acting funny, consider taking them to the vet.
But I'm pretty sure they're fine.

Its worse for some dogs than it is for others.

My dog ate two pounds of Hershey bars once, and he just threw up.

We thought he was going to die, but he threw up once, and was fine.
