the guy is obviously respecting his friend and that's good. i think you should give it time and if you guys still both like each other, this ex boyf that is holding you guys back should give in because he can't have you forever. how long as it been since you broke up with the other guy. you can't force him into dating you because he obviously holds his friendship high up.
