Assuming you're not trying to get him just because he's gorgeous or has money or any shallow things such as those, you should most definitely show him that you exist. There's nothing wrong with taking chances, especially when the outcome could be life altering in a very good way. Mind you, most people have a hidden side, so don't feel as though I'm saying  it's wrong to go for somebody who seems completely opposite from you. I have a tendency to be very careless in my consideration of new friends because I lack the self-motivation to delve deeper into their personality for fear I'm digging a hole for myself that will ultimately end up in my own humiliation via trying to be friends when they don't want anything to do with me.

Do what feels right. Best of luck, even if he's not the right one, you'll find somebody :)
