Uh mom, I want to chat with you a moment. I just thought you should know that I have a drug problem. The problem is so bad that it has led to me stealing from you to feed my habit. Not only do I steal from you, but I betray your trust in other ways too, such as lying to you. Not to mention that I disrespect my boyfriend so much that I'm willing to use him as an excuse to cover up the fact that I'm a thief.
