Yes, because American Christians don't understand either Christianity or Islam and only see actual Muslims on the news as being terrorists or "extremists."
Really? What is your reasoning behind that comment?

American Christians bury their heads in the sand and are only able to regurgitate what their pastor and people on TV have told them about their own religion. Most are not aware of the historical context of Christianity and rarely read the Bible on their own. When they do, they don't read for understanding, but as a religious exercise.

And you've talked to enough of them that your poll is accurate to how many percentage points? Or is this a regurgitation of something someone told you? Or, is this just how you, as a Christian, are and you are applying it across the board to all?

JeanClaude, way to generalize.
As a Catholic, I give all religions the highest amount of respect. In terms of Islam, I think Muslims know more about us than we know about them. Two of my very good friends happen to be Muslim and they are definitely not 'terrorists'. I think Islam is a misunderstood religion and the whole 'all Muslims are terrorists' is very overstated.

I'm just saying, is all. It's not going to do you any good to shoot the messenger.
If you want to deny the fact that there is a Christian culture unique to the United States, as every country has its own religious culture, that's your business.
