So my sister has dated this dude going on 2 years.  She is in hs, and the kid seems like a decent guy.  However his friends are a different f*****G story.  

He hung with a few friends in town (we live in a quiet area just outside of town.)   He and his friends get jumped by a few gangsta guys.  (his word not mine) so he comes here and tells my sister about how one of the guys had a gun and shit and i went off on his ass after he said that he thought they were after his friend.  I straight out said either get fucking better friends who don't almost get your punk ass killed or stop seeing my sister because i don't want her needing to ID the body.  now i know she wouldn't be the one but i was so pissed at the time i wasn't making sense.  So he starts laughing so i left the room because i wanted to go off on his ass.  I don't get along with my sister but she's not going to fucking have her bf killed because he hangs out with asshole dickheads.  I know it wasn't exactly my place but i just lost it and didn't give a shit.  

So not really looking for advice just a bit pissed off right now and needed to vent but so i don't waste time i ask...

As her brother did i do the right thing to go off on him?

Well then i'm telling you what i plan on telling my sister tomorrow.  If he gives a shit about you he will keep his mouth shut and stop fighting like a dick it doesn't make him a man and if he cares about you then he will take your feelings into consideration.
