Why so serious?

Personally, a big part of the reason I no longer deal with ehelps is because I don't like the system. I would really like to see the whole rating thing scrapped. I am tired of spending who-knows-how-long on an ehelp only to find that I get a 1 or 2 out of 4 only because I told the truth and the OP didn't get the answer they wanted to hear. Then I feel I have to sugarcoat what I have to say, and I really hate that. I say, scrap the entire rating system, keep the written feedback, and it's possible that more support leaders will reply. At least for me, personally, I don't want to waste my time on ungrateful people. I think I would probably feel more inclined to answer an ehelp if the rating thing was gone.  For right now, I just deal with the forums, where people can just take my advice or leave it, and I don't have to worry about getting kicked in the teeth with a negative rating.

Good point here. I agree with the ratings being a BIG problem. I remember once spending about half an hour on an eHelp reply and getting 1/4 for it.

Ah, I very much agree with you on the whole rating thing.  It's really stupid in my opinion.  Look at my rating for this week - 29.2!  I have provided quality responses to so many this past week and I work extremely hard - to only get a rating of one our of four because some members don't like to hear the truth.  I mean, I almost feel obligated to sugar coat my responses in eHelp due to this rating system.  However, I choose not to because it's not my honest opinion.  I am not mean or put anyone down, but I am completely honest about the situation.  But sometimes people can't accept honesty and hence the low rating on many members.

However, I think we should sort the Support Leaders into categories and create a list available to all of the members.  This will probably decrease the actual amount of eHelps that will be submitted.
That's a good idea.

I think it would also help if before a member submits an eHelp they are presented with the list of online SLs and what each of their specialities is, so that they can get quicker support and would help to reduce the number of eHelps.

I think without a direct confrontation somewhere on the eHelp page, members may just submit an eHelp regardless of the fact that they can PM a SL.

ATTENTION:

This topic is obviously going to get muddled pretty quickly. I'm going to make two topics, here. One for eHelp, one for the Serious forum. Please stick to the titles, and this topic will get locked, but obviously feel free to link to things in here.
