I like the turnpikes. Then, you can set any speed limit you want and not have to monitor people's speeds while they drive.
If the limit is 70, then someone legally can travel no farther than 70 miles in a single hour. If Random Guy enters the turnpike at mile 50 at noon, and exits the turnpike at mile 100 at 12:30, he can be given a speeding ticket because he was traveling 100 miles an hour.

well that actually punishes the people who are doing it for personal reasons rather than recklessness
reckless speeders will just pull onto the shoulder for awhile, its easy to beat

or people will find tricks to get around it
The nice point of it is that you cannot travel more than a certain distance in a certain time, so there is no point to go above a certain speed at all. That way all law enforcement officers can focus on spotting 'reckless' drivers rather than just some number on their radar gun.

Because like it or not, accidents happen, and a car traveling at a higher speed causes MORE damage if/when it crashes in to something else. All your arguments can be countered with this same line.
