I've had a MySpace for a while now but didn't really use it. I've been using it a lot more lately, though, in order to find some local bands and where they're playing and such.

I've never put up my school info or work info, though. A lot of other people seem to so I was wondering...do you think I'm being way too sensitive by not putting mine up? My profile is private and only a few people can see it, the rest are mainly bands who wouldn't think to look at, of all profiles, mine. And of all the actual people who can see my profile, I'd guess that only one or two would look at my info and not already know where I work/went to school. About four already know as they're from my offline life.

I don't think it's that serious...I don't really have mine up, it changes too much.

I don't think it's that big of a deal either way, to tell you the truth.

I'm just trying to be cautious because a friend of mine got into a lot of trouble by putting his info up. If he hadn't been so loose with it, he might not have gotten into the mess he did. Then again, he shot his mouth off and got caught but I don't intend to behave that way so no one should really feel the need to look up my info.

It's irresponsible attitudes like yours that ends up with people being stalked on the internet.

Majo, I personally take the view that the less information you put online about yourself, the better off you are. It's not overreacting, it's using your brain to think about what you're revealing about yourself to the world in general. You never know who might stumble across your information or what use they might make of it. I say less is better, but you have to find your own comfort level. Just do some research about the problems that people have run into from posting that kind of information all over the internet.

Thanks. I'd like to put that info up but I'm not sure I feel comfortable doing that so I'll just keep my page the way it is.

With the world the way it is today, nope it's not obsessive.
