...don't piss off your roommate and expect them to be okay with you drinking in your room (especially when you don't ask them if it's okay).

And, btw, if you get caught drinking in your room during finals week, apparently your housing contract is broken and you get sent home as soon as possible (at least at our school).

Oh damn for my neighbor, too bad for her.

That really sucks for you. My roommates don't care when I drink, because it's usually just wine with a good book. Thats how I relax after a stressful week.

Oh, it's not an issue for me, because I didn't get caught.  It was my neighbor across the hall that got caught.

Befriend your roommate and your RA, you'll learn how the system works. But once you screw it up, don't expect them to try to help you out either.

I live with my R.A. She's a disgusting, smelly bitch. Thankfully, she's spent most of her time outside of the room since we bitched her out.

Totally irrelevant to your story. Lol.

Dude, you share a room with your RA?  RA's at my school aren't allowed to share rooms unless absolutely necessary (like too many admitted than they have space for).

My RA though is pretty cool.  She would seriously know that we were drinking and not give a fuck about it.  She wants us to visit her next year at her apartment when she isn't our RA and drink with us because she'll be 21 then and can provide the alcohol herself.

I lucked out with the roommate thing because the first left after a month, and the second left after first semester, and I've had it all to myself this semester.

As for my RA, she likes me and my friends, and she doesn't care at all what we do, as long as no one else catches us we're in the clear.  Although you are right, if we were caught while she was on duty or by another RA, there isn't much she could do for us.

I wish my RA was like that. Mines crazy. She's one of those 'straight-out-of-Brooklyn" badass chicks. You know, the "YOU DONT KNOW ME! YOU DONT KNOW WHERE I COME FROM! IMA BUST YO' ASS!"

My freshmen year, my first roommate changed her mind during orientation in the summer, second one literally changed her mind the day after she arrived right before I was even able to move in (she wanted to be close to her bf), and then I just simply didn't get any all year. Because I was afraid of getting someone I really didn't know at all, I invited a friend I met through an art class to move in because we got along so well together in the class. Turned out that she was a long lost childhood friend of my best friend who lived right down the hallway from me. So we all got along pretty good. She moved out in the middle of the 2nd semester that year and I didn't get another. My friends and I nicknamed my room the "super single", lol. It was pretty freaking awesome.

As for my RA, I ended up hanging out with my RA freshman year up until he graduated a little over a year ago. My other RA was still pretty cool, though I didn't really hang out with her that often. Most of my friends either were RAs or became RAs.... thankfully they were the laid back ones and not the ones that were taking it completely too serious.

I know I got lucky here, but it really is a good tip. Befriend your RA and your roommate, and you'd be surprised how well you get along in the longrun.
