I've tried downloading Limewire (the free, basic version) and it says that I need to go to Java.com and install the...something Enviroment. I tried that, but it always says that it failed.
I've also tried downloading the java offline, but I can't really figure that out. I'm such a noob at computers.

You're going to need to get the Java Runtime Environment in order for you to be able to run LimeWire. If you're having trouble installing it, there are too many potential problems to diagnose without knowing more. Go to the site where you downloaded the java installer and see if they have troubleshooting and follow those steps.

I tried that. What was suggested for the troubleshooting is that I do it offline (as I stated above) and it still didn't work.

Can you tell me more about what's going wrong?

I just get an error message saying that the Runtime Environment failed to download.

I got the error message saying: Installer Wrapper.createfile failed with error 3: The system cannot find the path specified.
Um, make sure you have the right path specified. IDK, this is a tough situation. What operating system are you using, by the way? If it's an older version of windows, that might explain it-in which case you'd want to make sure you've updated everything. If it's a newer version of windows, that might be it too. You may be running on a 64 bit system but the JRE that you're trying to install is compiled for 32 bit. It would be pertinent to post your computer specs and such.

Limewire can be used for sharing actual useful files. That is the main reason it stays running. People who use it for media downloading should burn in hell.

And who ever said that I was going to use it to for media downloading?
