No, it doesn't suck. The chop in those pictures is because of the screenshot program you have to run on Ubuntu to take a screenie. It looks much better outside the screenshots.

I tried installing Ubuntu 9.04 on here last night.  Since the simple installer doesn't include Grub configuration I couldn't get into either the Ubuntu install or my WinXP x64 install.  Had to do an emergency install of Fedora to fix the problem.

Simplicity sucks.

Shhh, we use the Gimmicky UI's to lure in the n00bz. Then we grab onto the best ones with the better features.

Maybe. I still weep for the wasted processing time though.

Meh, it's not like they're doing anything with it anyway...    Idle processing time is no better.

The graphical wank is generally annoying, I turn that stuff off and just keep some of the sliding effects and suchlike.

Flame effects? Pfft, waste of time.

Still, oddly enough, Compiz actually improves the behaviour of my computer, fixes some oddness with using two screens of different heights and suchlike. I use Fedora 10, though, not Ubuntu.

True, which is why I believe that folding@home should be made mandatory. :P

Admittedly. If only we could get it pre-installed on computers... so many n00bs would never even know that their computers are helping humanity!
