Hello

i've got two internet connections in my house. my old one is virgin media, its a 10mb connection. i also have a connection with o2 broadband which is 4mb download.

what i want to do is use my o2 broadband for browsing the internet and online gaming. the other 10MB for uploading torrents. I've got two computers. 1 desktop/1 laptop. i could just leave my laptop seeding using one connection and use my computer, i know that much.

however my girlfriend comes home from uni and needs the laptop do do assignment work/research etc, so i can't use that all the time.

what i want to do is have a program configured to use one connection, and for everything else to use the other connection.

utorrent use connection 1
everything-else use connection 2

on the same machine.

is this possible, any specific software for torrenting support this? and if this isn't possible why not?

You would (somehow) need two receivers. One receiver cannot pull more than one connection. I'm not sure if it's possible to have more than one receiver on one machine, and even if it is, I don't think Utorrent (or any programs, at that) are able to pull any connection at all that isn't being pulled directly to the computer.

I think you would be able to pull this off with iptables, the firewall that is in most Linux distributions. However, I do not know how to configure it to do this. You might also need to rearrange the hardware a bit, probably get a cheap old computer to act as a router.

As for Windows solutions, I have no idea.

At any rate, it ought to be possible, but probably not particularly easy to do.
