I have a Mac and I'm having a hard time downloading albums from bit torrents. I downloaded Tomato Torrent 1.5 (for the software) and I downloaded torrents from sites such as demonoid and mininova. However, I wasn't able to download any of the albums.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a software program and sites for torrents that actually work.

Also, I was wondering what "seeds" are. Does the likelihood of downloading an album increase if you upload albums to the torrent software system? Thanks!

Seeds are people who are uploading the file. More seeds, faster download. No seeds, no download.

I'd recommend Transmission as a software client, it's the simplest and easiest to use. As for seeds, motorhead correctly explained that seeders are the people who are uploading the file.

If it's not starting or going very slow, you need to open ports on your router (or a port, which you configure in the software) for it to be able to connect to the other users well. You can find out how to do this at: http://www.portforward.com/
