Posting this in a sticky topic for future reference, to remind you all

Hello Support Leaders,

This is a reminder to use your abilities to hide posts wisely!

Only hide a post if it needs to be hidden. There are reasons to remove a lot of LiveWire for one silly reason or another, but on the whole you don't need to, nor do we as moderators. Don't over-moderate.

Take things out of the Peer/College/Tech Support forums with a pinch of salt, treat posts in these forums lightly compared to a support issue. This is especially relevant for DTRM.

REPORT - You can still use this function, if a post needs to be reported, such as a user encouraging harm or spamming like fuck, then please tell us, otherwise the user can get away with it. You are not moderators, you can not deal with issues like this. Always report it if you think it needs to be dealt with further, or if you are unsure about the post.

Overall, just remove what needs to be, not something which for a silly reason; any posts in your own topics/ in response to your own, do not moderate those.

This message has been sent out as a reminder, also since some of you over-use the vote-to-hide function.

Thanks,
Sam - LiveWire Moderation Team.

I always forget to report posts encouraging harm before hiding; I just hide them. Thanks for the reminder.

Pretty much all the time when the SL hide ability is brought up, never hurts to remind people though.

I don't know how many times this has been said, but ok.

I don't know how many times SLs still over-moderate, but ok.

If SLs didn't over-moderate or similar, then we wouldn't need to post it, no?

Well if just posting a topic didn't stop it before then making a topic about it now won't either, no?

Its always helpful to keep telling people about it, it does help.

I don't really see a purpose of the whole hiding thing.
Sure, it's a handy thing for us to have if the case needs be, but it's the mods job to remove posts, not ours.
