does anyone know the right conjugation for the verb 'divertirse' (to enjoy, have fun) in the imperfect tense, as in "My family enjoyed traveling."/Mi familia _ viajes."

Ehhh.. divertíamos doesn't fit in the sentence.

Mi familia _____ en los viajes.

Unless you change it to:

Nos divertíamos en los viajes.

eg: Take out the SUJETO.

or you say:

Mi familia se diveritia en los viajes.

If you do it with divertíamos, just like the other posters said, to fill the blank, the context is wrong.

divertiamos is not right.

You can't use divertirse there if you want it to make sense. That would translate to My family enjoyed themselves travels. you need to use viajando (travelling) or en their travels. En sus viajes.

The correct conjugation here would be se diverti'an. Normally with familia, you would use the singular case, but in this case, you're talking about the members of the family enjoying themselves, not the family enjoying itself, so i would say se divertian.

mi familia se diverti'an en sus viajes/se divertian viajando.

your issue here is that enjoy has nothing to see with divertir... you're seeking "disfrutar".
