You go back in time and realize how utterly pointless cutting is.
Don't be mean, it's an addiction just like any other. I went through the same thing. Just keep bandaids on them.. I guess that's all you can do.
It shouldn't be an addiction. Cutting is a way to let anger out. One of the many fucking ways but it's so damn popular, the majority of people only do it because they read or heard about it. Out of all the self mutilation techniques, cutting is the most pointless. Biting, scratching, assault, none of that is even MENTIONED

You keep the bandage on, after you clean them and put triple anti-biotic on them. Then you march your ass to the doctors and get a psychological evaluation. Then you attend therapy once a week. That's what you do.
Cutters are not crazy people.
Yeah, because that's what I was implying. A psychological evaluation will determine what's wrong with her and how to treat it. Like depression. But thank you for assuming that's what I meant.
And you think it's that easy? A friend of mine did that exact thing. And oh look - she's still depressed and still cutting.
Once you open up to your therapist, it's a lot easier. In fact...you don't really notice shit till you open up.

Just because it didn't work for a friend of your does not make cutting and pretending the problem doesn't exist an acceptable action. I spent years cutting and causing various other harm to myself because of my undiagnosed depression. Finding someone that I could trust, who was willing to give me an objective opinion helped me immensely. I'm not crazy, nor have I ever been, but I found a ridiculous means of distracting myself from my problems, and continued cutting for years. Have you yet considered that your friend might not be interested in being evaluated and/or finding aid? Those who do not desire any sort of help often find themselves mutilating themselves over and over again. Do not dissuade the OP from receiving proper medical care just because a friend of yours did not change his or her behavior. OP: If the wounds do not stop bleeding soon, go to the doctor. You may not have cut deeply or done anything that you may consider entirely drastic, but it is not worth losing a serious amount of blood. Place pressure on everything, through the bandages, and gently elevate your legs above your heart. This should stop or slow the bleeding. If it does not slow or stop entirely, seek immediate medical attention.

No, it's not that easy and I should know. I've been in therapy for six years. Of course it's not going to get better immediately. It takes time and for most of us we deal with it all our lives. So no, it's not a quick fix but it's a push in the right direction. You have to WANT to get better bad enough that you make a huge effort. And it is a huge effort. So thanks for AGAIN assuming that I was insulting her and calling her crazy and then acting like getting over it is easy. Perhaps you just want something to argue about.
Well maybe you should word things better. Your first post sounded rude and judgemental. And I also know what it's like, I've been depressed and self harming since I can even remember. I've read so much about this stuff it's swimming round in my head all day. I also know it's possible to overcome it yourself. And that is something I'd rather do than sit explaining myself to someone who doesn't even care as long as they are getting paid.

I've never had a therapist who didn't care just because they were getting paid. In fact, I've only had one who gets paid. My last therapist worked for volunteer program and I had her for three years. The one I have now doesn't make near as much as most. He only makes around $30 while the one down the street makes $150. I'm sure there are some out there who do that, but they don't last very long.

Trust me, she wanted it really badly. She is also not the only person who I know that has been treated for depression. And they are all still depressed. I am not trying to stop anyone from getting help. They SHOULD get help, cause it might actually work for them. I am just telling it how it is.
