Occurs in New Zealand in Maori people at around twice the rate as it does in Non Maori (AKA mostly White New Zealanders).

It's funny how this is never mentioned on the news etc, even after the people just got convicted for the last murder of a child -- she was abused overa number of months until she finally died.

I personally think the Maori situation needs to be addressed before more children die, but this is seen as racism, right?

You are not wrong there. Poor Nia was beaten for ages and the parents didn't do anything about it. I personally think her mother is guilty for turning a blind eye to the abuse.

What does it say for us all as new zealanders when a child is treated the way poor Nia was? Surely the neighbours must have seen her pegged to the clothes line... Someone must have known she was getting put in the tumble dryer? What happened to regular plunket visits to ensure the welfare of children? I just wish the animals who did this were locked away for life. If it was any country other than New Zealand im sure they would be

um, no, it was more along the lines of the social situation of Maori needing to be addressed, the cause of this, the economics etc.
