Obviously if they want to kill themselves they aren't in any state of mind to make a decision. Ever hear about depression?

Depression is a disease despite what others think. So before you go and make another ignorant topic, I'd advise you to smarten up a bit and try to be a little more understanding. Okay?

geez. why are you peoples posting just to critize the creator of the topic?

Because the OP is essentially criticizing depressed people which there are a lot of on here.

Ok, suicide is a little more complicated than that.
You genuinely believe that life is not worth living and that the world is better off without you.
Until you have actually had a mental health problem, read extensively on suicide, or had a close family experience of it, you don't have the right to judge suicidal people.

You forget that THEY don't see it like that.  They see it as no one cares for them and would be better off without them and they'd be better off not alive.  So it seems selfish to you, but they think you're being selfish for trying to convince them to live with they feel they have nothing here.

Thank you so much. I am so tired of people not taking matters like suicide and depression more seriously.

i disagree with some of what you said, but i agree with your main point. suicide is the most selfish thing a person can do.

i've been there - i've lost a friend. that was over 2 years ago and it still hurts. we weren't even that close anymore. but just knowing that she couldn't bear to be alive anymore...that's a tough thing to come to terms with.

in the same time period, i lost a couple other friends in an automobile accident and a medical accident. that was the time when i came out of my depression. now i basically live my life for those who i've lost - those who can't anymore. it gets me through the day.

And under what obligation are we to live our lives for others? Isn't it more selfish for those that CARE about you to make you suffer through life? To guilt you into feeling that YOU are selfish because you have depressed feelings that you have no control over?

Is it really selfish to be so upset to the point that you want to just give up? Aren't the others selfish for wanting to keep you here even though you are so tired of life? Isn't it selfish that THEY keep you here because THEY want to be happy?

Anything can be twisted into selfishness, no matter what it is.  And ultimately?  You are completely eliminating the fact that these people are emotionally distressed.  They have depression, and that's not something that you can just overcome.
