My grandma passed away 8 years ago Christmas eve and my grandpa passed away last Valentines Day. They're both my moms parents, my dad parents(thank God) are still around. The loss of both of my grandparents was EXTREMELY hard on us since we're such a close family. This is the first holiday season without my grandpa, and its going to be reallyyyy hard, but I'm starting to think my mom is being over dramatic. No, I'm not saying shes not allowed to be sad, but I'm trying to make the best of it. This is probably the first year that I'm actually NOT excited for Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years. I've been trying to talk myself into it, and its really hard. I simply brought up to my mom something that I was excited about(about the holidays) and she just started crying and wouldn't tell me why. Then my dad just simply said to her "I don't think I'm going to decorate outside this year." and she threw a fucking fit and screamed at him. Then she wouldn't speak to me for hours. Her and I were in the car coming home from getting dinner and she just randomly went off on me about everything. The she told me and I quote: "I can't fucking stand you and you're dad! You're ruining my life. You both could drop dead and go to hell and I wouldn't give a fuck!" I think this was a little harsh and it really hurt. I didn't really say anything but slam the door and give her her dinner and eat in the other room. But I'm really hurt, I think that was over dramatic. Why would she do that?

Fuck her - don't talk to her until she apologizes. That was A LOT over the line, I'd ignore a person for a year for that

She did that because she's dealing with an inconceivable amount of grief.
However, that's horribly wrong of her to be so harsh towards you, but I understand. I went through pretty much the same thing when my mom lost both of her parents. All you can do is try and understand and know that at some point they'll come to their senses where you two can talk and make things right again. I know it hurts to hear something like that from your mom and I hope things get better for you soon. If you ever want someone to talk to you can message me.

She'll feel bad, and apologize eventually. Until then, you have every right to be angry and upset.
