I am hispanic and latino. I usually speak to everyone in English. I do greet other Hispanics in Spanish. Its a usual thing more in states with a lot of hispanics.

I guess a lot of hispanics thought you were hispanic! It wasn't meant to offend thy just made a mistake.I  So anyway just smile and tell them what you are. When they realize they usually say sorry or smile to apologize and just move on.

I am part filipino too btw!

It might be true in florida, but in most other places its not.
There are a lot of hispanic people within my vicinity and all of them speak english.

It is true here.

But, then again, they either come from New York or their original country/island.

They even speak of places, in New York, that only have Spanish speakers.

Sure. But thats the same of almost any ethnic group in NY.
There is china town, little italy, etc etc etc.
There are a bunch of places in and around the city that are almost exclusive to certain groups. Mostly because they are/were immigrants and are adjusting.

A good way to adjust is to ignore the common culture of the area along with the language!

Immigrants in the US always create little areas for themselves with their own language and culture until they can adapt.

By the second or third gen the kids and grandkids usually move on and join the rest of the population.

They don't always adapt. If they become the majority of the population in that area, they don't need to adapt as they are the dominant culture.

Not necessarily.
The new Hispanic influence around here has taken the very few Hispanics that "Adpated" as you claim who were born here - and awakened their Latin American side.

They changed to their old culture - one alien to the USA.

They only see what they want to believe. Pretty typical.

Good for you - I see people coming to my school to get their children enrolled - not knowing any English at all.

They don't TRY to learn it either.

You CAN'T relate your area to mine - what's teh Hispanic population percentage? How many are coming a year?

More questions need to be asked.

Spanish is about as common, if not more common, around here than English. Learning Spanish can be more useful than English.
