Some people say it is to help get away from the world, and then other people who find it as a "disease" are just fucking dumb as hell in my opinion.

As long as they do not go down to the vein, it's alright. But you still hear people going around saying fags cut themselves, or only emos cut themselves, or some other dumbfucking bullshit thats not true.

One thing that really pisses me off is when you cut, people label you as emo. That does not fucking mean your a god damn emo. It just means you believe self-manipulation helps you, and if you think so, great.

And then people also like to say this... "People who cut themselves are looking for attention and they aren't going to get it." Ok, well you dumbfucks actually PAY ATTENTION to people who cut. They don't pay attention to you (unless they are just really weak) otherwise, leave them the fuck alone and mind your own god damn business. I mean really.

So yea, I know I am probably going to get some hate comments from fags on here, but thats ok. Go ahead and let your opinions fly. No one cares. :D

As a former self-mutilator (11 months clean!), for 11 years mind you, it's about attention. Not attention-whoring, which it can turn into, but a cry for help.

For me, specifically it's "I can't deal with my shit right now, so this is what I'm doing, can you please explain that to me?" I can't say what I feel, but I can "feel" what I'm feeling. Or I'll disassociate and then I'll cut to feel again.

As for emos and all that... that's all high school stuff. In college and the real world, if you cut yourself, it doesn't matter if you listen to Dashboard Confessional or not.

Also, as for "it's okay if you don't cut to the vein..." Well, if it's suicide or cutting yourself, it's the lesser of two evils. Otherwise, it can be just as bad. I never cut "very deep" (deep is soooo subjective, like Monty Python's "it's only a flesh wound") but I cut like 6 times a day. Plus I did a bunch of other stuff like head-banging-against-wall, burning, skin picking, purging (not for weight loss reasons), punching myself.
