Yup, as said, the bottom of the shoe is supposed to be "dirty" to Muslims, and thus by throwing it, it's a pretty big sign of disrespect. If I'm correct, he also said, "It is the farewell kiss, you dog," or something, calling someone a "dog" also referring to them as being dirty and low, similar to how we might call someone a pig.
