--Smoking a whole bunch of weed does NOT make you cool.
--Saying "It takes at least a gram to get ME high" doesn't make you cool
--Saying "I smoke diesel" or any other name does not make you cool.

and here's why:

1) Smoking an ounce a week or even a half, really, is not something to brag about. that is a lot of weed to be smoking in one week. Not only does it point out that you probably smoke more than you are sober --not cool-- but it also shows that you are wasting your money -- also not cool.

Being high all day is NOT a cool thing to do. If someone calls you a stoner or a pot head and says that you are probably lazy and non-productive; you probably are. If you can't go through a normal day without being high, then you have a problem. It may not be a physical addiction, but it is up there in the "I gotz problemz" scale.
Along with spending all your money on pot. If you spend the majority of your money on pot, you are not cool. Thus, acting like you spend so much money on pot is MORE uncool [or 'less cool still' for all you english major freaks].

2) Saying that "small" amounts of weed don't get you high isn't cool. If you don't get high off a gram [+ or - .5] then you are doing one of two things wrong [or both]
    a) Your weed is shitty. If it takes you 2 grams to get high, then no matter what you say you are smoking shitty weed. I don't care how long you've been smoking or how much [not cool remember] tolerance never gets to the point where you can't get high off a gram of good weed. [now, if you are talking about getting retarded high, perhaps, but if you say anything above 2 grams then your weed is shit. You shouldn't need an eighth to get high.
    b) Your tolerance is too high. If you smoke 1.5 grams and you don't really feel that baked, chances are your tolerance is too high. Someone who enjoys smoking weed will take a break for a couple days [2-7] and then get right back to it. That person knows when his tolerance is too high, and WANTS to lower it.

Remember, saying "Dude, I can smoke 3 grams before I get super high" is not cool. It just means that you have to spend 6 times more money to get high than someone equally as experienced as you.

3) You probably aren't.
Dealers don't get a ton of exotic shit, and what they do get they don't distribute to towny pot-heads. They either smoke it themselves or smoke it with their friends. If you DO have a hook up to some exotic bud you usually don't buy a damn gram of it.

Exotic weed is hard to come by and is typically not mass produced. So most of you small time smokers have probably only smoked the HUGE variety of weed that I call "the regular shit"

This stuff can be quite good. It may make you trip out, but if you've ever smoked something exotic, you can tell the difference.

Obviously this doesn't apply to everyone. I'm just sick of people creating topics like "I smoke an ounce of Big League Chew [a nice exotic bud that comes into the Albany and Syracuse areas from Canada] a week, and it takes like 2 grams to get me high from that shit!"

Not only does that make people who smoke weed sound like idiots, but it is also a blatant lie. It doesn't make you look cool. I mean, sure, perhaps some kids look at that and say "wow, I smoked a bowl and got really high, he must be a TANK" but those of us who actually do smoke on a daily basis [with regular tolerance checks --at least I do] know that you probably smoke shitty weed and have nothing better to do.

Bottom line: Cool people do not sit around all day smoking tons and tons of shitty weed.

Actually. My bong takes about .5-.6 in the pack, and if i take the whole pack I'm usually pretty high. [though, to get baked I usually pack it twice or three times] And I have been smoking every day for the last three semesters [with several tolerance breaks spread out through that time period]

I agree with a good number of your points. While there are definitely a lot more people in the world who smoke than just your stereotypical stoner, there definitely are those who use the drug in excess and let it take over their life.

Also, I do agree that I never understood why people brag about having to use a shit ton of weed to get high. It's a waste, and it does probably mean that you are getting crap.

The only thing I want to bring up is the part I quoted. Tolerance with marijuana is a tricky thing. You can't really use it in the classical sense of the word, because usually tolerance implies physically addictive properties.
