oh, thats called a cicada. they're everywhere here.
thats the adult form, they only live 17 days when theyre adults and they go in trees and make this obnoxious noise. i used to catch them when i was little. i know a lot about them little things xD lol

But I don't think they have cicadas in Canada...

I have never, ever heard one.

And I know what they sound like - they're all over New Zealand.
