I guess it's the same concept as anorexics thinking they are fat?

Maybe to her, that is skinny.
Just because society says it's not "skinny" doesn't mean she agrees.

She might be making a joke. Never considered that? I'm like 130lbs, 5'5, and sometimes I say that, but I don't mean it.

But the way you claim it, she sounds like she's serious. But really, I doubt anyone is really that air-headed.

I think it's more denial than anything. They know they're not in the best shape, and I'm sure privately, they feel really bad about it, but nobody wants to come off as one of those types that just whines about being out of shape, so they try and convince themselves that they're not, at least around other people.
