From the SLG:

"It's been reached by a general consensus that Support Leaders are only to target the 'easy' stuff, by that we mean the posts that are quite grossly guideline breaking, such as promoting harm (in jest or not), posting of personal information, etc. In a sense, avoid the grey area postings, and focus more on the obvious. We aren't moderators, and our ability to handle serious situations can only go so far. Again, if you have a question or concern about a post, do not hesitate to message a moderator for clarification."

That's pretty solid advice for SLs. :)

I thought we were supposed to report the serious/"obvious" violations. Is this not the case now?

Yes, I saw that. I gather that more serious violations are to be reported, and less serious (still being obvious - spam, no contribution etc) are to be hidden. You commented on the subjective nature of this interpretation which gives us a bit of freedom.

So to echo your own words, there is a differentiation between serious and obvious violations of the guidelines according to "the professional"'s link. Anything we think requires further action (warning, banning) is to be reported. Additionally, my own suggestion is that anything we're not sure about, we send up the COC (chain of command).

Half right.  You can still hide serious violations, but report them -first-.  The only exception to this is Anonymous posts/posts in your own topic.  Those can never be hidden by support leaders.

You're half right. Anonymous posts cannot be removed, but we can hide posts in our own topics. I assume you mean we shouldn't.

Huh? No.

Lets be clear about this (lol): Support leaders should NEVER hide Anonymous posts. Support leaders should NEVER hide posts in their own threads. Support leaders CAN hide serious violations (encouraging harm), as long as the first person to vote reports them first.

Do you really dislike being wrong so much that we have to extend a dispute in semantics?

I understood your initial post about the guidelines on what we should and should not do.

The point that I was trying to convey was that we were unable to hide anonymous posts, as you said, but we are able to hide posts in our own topics.

I understand the guidelines as well as the messages from your own extensive topic on the subject(s). Thus, I'll discontinue posting on the matter (though I don't seek to limit you in any way).

It had nothing to do with me being 'wrong'.  I didn't even realize what you were trying to say.  Now that I do realize what you were trying to say (that SLs simply cannot hide anonymous because there is no option), it makes sense.  I thought you were just unclear about it all.

I do, however, find it funny you claimed I was extending semantics when you wanted to debate a simple wording flaw. lol
