Push ups during the day?

'm a discus/hammer thrower on the track and field team. We throw Monday-Friday and lift Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings. Many of our lifts are low reps and sets but heavy weight. I do get quite a workout during the day from the throws training.

I use to do push ups alot throughout the day but eased off once I got on the college team and had a set workout. I would wake up and do push ups to start my day. I'd like to start back with them. I also like the toning from them. With my throwing and lifting schedule; would this be overkill on my arms? My main concern is overworking my muscles to the point I fatigue them and possibly hurt my throwing.

Since I haven't done them regularly, I'd start off slow and add push ups once I feel stronger to avoid overexerting myself. I'd like to do them in the mornings, afternoon, and again in the evening. Does this sound like it would work without affecting my sport?

Extremely bad routine.
Work your chest with med- heavy weight every 4 days or weekly.
Doing push ups daily is truly dumb, you will not gain strength or muscle. You will only destroy muscle and gain endurance but not strength.

Contact me via pm if you want a chest workout routine.

i wouldnt really reccomend doing them too often. a few in the morning is good to get your blood flowing and get a good kick start for the day, but if you are already lifting heavy during the week, you may overtrain your muscles too much and stop the muscle tissue from repairing itself between workouts.
You can try it I guess and see how you feel, every ones body is different and has different limitations so its hard to say, but my adivse would be to only do a few and not every day

her coach is obviously the one who set up the routine..? I'm guessing he or she knows more about it than you do, since the coach gets paid to train

HAHAHa not even, my football coach from high school was fired because the team was scrawny and weak, i was the only one who was muscular since i was a powerlifter before and studied sports nutrition.

Just because they get paid to do something does not mean they are pros,
Look at all the incompetent teachers that get paid YET they sometimes don't teach well or forget the stuff they teach.

Ps: i didn't read the top of her comment, that routine is good enough, i thought she was only doing push ups every day, so yeah the top of her comments is similar to what i was going to say anyways, do that OP.
