I married a younger guy, and have dated a guy that was almost 2 years younger than me(1 year and 10 months)lol.  Needless to say it didn't work out.

A majority of the time, girls are more mature than guys their age, so they typically get along with older guys better.

Women become infertile relatively quickly, and so there may be an evolutionary instinct to avoid older women as partners without a corresponding instinct to avoid older men. And of course there are the social ramifications of having a traditionally patriarchal society.
