I don't EVER recall saying that they are people I also don't understand why you seem to be so offended by the fact I don't eat meat.
You compared them to family and friends. Fairly reasonable conclusion. I'm offended by your blanket statement. As a chef, I respect everything I cook, and don't appreciate the inferences you're making. FP
I compared, yes, but I didn't directly say "I think that animals are people". I think that they should be respected on the same level that humans are respected. The thing is, you respect the food, not the animal. If you really respected the animal, you wouldn't be eating it. Fair enough if you appreciate the fact it died to be eaten, but that's not respect.

No, it's respect. I make sure the animals I eat lived a good life. I make sure they died in a humane way. I make sure it is treated with respect at every step, or I don't buy it. FP
Well congrats, it's awesome that you do that and all, but I highly doubt many other people do that, seriously. Also, I don't recall saying "everyone who eats meat doesn't respect animals". I said that I don't eat meat because I consider it to be disrespectful, even if the animal did live a good life. Even if you disagree, I'm set in my opinion, and I'm not hurting anyone, so I don't see the problem.

Explain to me how giving an animal a humane life and death, and having it's body used is disrespectful, while letting it be wild, and die violently by predator, disease, old age, or starvation is respectful... FP

I understand and value the fact it was given a humane life and death prior to being eaten, but that's not that part that I'd regard as disrespectful in this case, obviously. Free-range or not, I still consider breeding animals to be eaten, having them die unnaturally, and then consumed, in my opinion disrespectful. On the subject of it being "killed violently by a predator": In the wild, it's more of a kill or starve situation, whereas with humans, we could easily live on an all-vegetarian diet (I know most people would strongly disagree with this statement, but can I just point out that what you've never tried, you won't miss). It's essential for predators to kill to eat. It's not mandatory for people to kill to eat. Also, in the wild, the entire corpse is more often than not consumed entirely. I'm aware that, for the majority of the time, the mass of the carcass is simply disposed of in the case of humans eating meat. As for the disease factor; I've been lead to believe that a great number of the animals kept in factory farms etc die of disease. I'm quite aware that there are free-range farms, but the majority of meat comes from factory farms. And either way, it doesn't cancel out the fact that animals are still dying of disease in the more inhumane produce farms. But honestly, I just believe that allowing an animal to live it's life, and not interfeer, is my way of respecting it. I understand if other people want to eat meat, but I don't want to. I'd appreciate it if you let me have my own opinion, because, once again, it doesn't effect anyone but me.

FurryPanther, why are you being such a dick? Chasey never said that meat eaters cannot respect animals. :/
