My parents paid to have it fixed up, and we were using it as our third car. That was the car I was driving for a while.

Well, the transmission was dying on it, the radiator had a small crack, etc. It just wasnt worth fixing. I began to shop for a new car, and talked to my parents about selling or scrapping that one. They reminded me it was still my brothers car, but said they would talk to him about letting me sell it.

When the day came, they said it was Ok for me to scrap it. I borrowed $200 from my brother, and in turn gave him my 360. We decided that I would only pay back the loan if I wanted my 360 back. Weve talked about it a few times, and basically decided I wouldnt be paying him back, he would just keep the 360.

And now it comes to today. He comes in the house, runs down stairs, tells me hes had a shitty day, and that in the next week I need to pay him for the car. I mentioned the deal we had about the 360, and he told me that was fine, but said that the car I had scrapped was his, and he wants money for it.

He gave me one week to pay him $400 (how much I got for it when I scrapped it).

I honestly have no idea what to do. Im working maybe 6 hours a week. I have some things I could sell, but I really would rather not.

I could talk to my parents, since they said they had worked that out with him, but I dont want to stress them out. My mom is on holiday shutdown for one of her jobs, and my dad has had his hours cut. He also just started a new second job.

I know my parents dont have the money, I dont have the money, and Im pretty sure my brother isnt going to settle for not getting the money.

Any possible suggestions?

First thing you need to do is get your fucking 360 back. If he's not willing to uphold the bargain and says the car was his then the 360 is yours.

Take that fucker back.

The 360 was part of the deal made for the $200 "loan" he gave me. I gave him the 360 because I wouldnt be able to pay him back.

Hes wanting money for the car I scrapped.

I honestly have my doubts about what my parents told him. They may have promised him money that they didnt have, or told him I would pay him back someday.

As for what he will do, well, hes saying he will come and take my car back. However, he wont get very far, since I only have one set of keys to it, and he cant drive stick.

I found out that his license got suspended two years ago, and he never knew that. So when he got in an accident a week or two ago, he found out he has to do all this stuff at the court house, so I think thats why he was all freaked out.

I plan to talk to him tomorrow after his court time, and find out if he still needs the money. If I need to, Ill sell my SLR camera, and a lens or two. I want a DSLR anyways, so Ill be able to get one after Christmas.

There are some missing pieces from this story. Maybe you're not telling us because you're unsure about it yourself. Firstly, did your parents actually promise you that they'd take care of it? Did they say it's OK to sell the car? If not, then part of the blame is on you for selling the car haphazardly. You need to pay him back for that. If your parents did promise to recompensate your brother financially for the car, then you need to confront them. Ask them if they will pay your brother back some time in the future, or not.

But it seems like the 360/$200 deal wasn't really part of the problem.

Yeah, the 360 deal is not part of the problem.

And knowing my parents, I really dont know what they told him. However, they did say they would take care of it, and they did tell me I could sell the car.

i think you should write a book about your life and sell the rights to make it into a movie, you will make thousands, cos that is fascinating stuff (it probably sounds like im being sarcastic but im really not)

Ive considered it, I wrote an entire chapter of it for an English class I had once.

The interesting stuff just hasnt happened yet. I do plan to write an entire book in a few years though.
