I think marijuana should be decriminalized in the United States, or at least in my state, so what can I do, as an individual, to try to make this happen?

I sound cliche, but I'm serious.  I know you can write representative and participate in protests or whatever, but is that actually effective?  Has anyone here ever actually tried to be active in getting pot legalize?

The government has the drug war on lock.  I honestly don't see much in the future despite the obvious issues with the way it was made illegal in the first place.

Writing can't hurt but....what we need is someone who can make a serious case against it in the Supreme court.

I can agree.  But I still don't feel like just waiting around for that.

Americans have a better shot now than they ever did. Obama has been answering countless legalize marijuana statements on his website since he was elected. That has to show that he's open to the idea.

This is true.  Although it would probably be a more worthwhile effort to just try in Wisconsin.  Our governor Jim Doyle is a good man, imo.  He was in the Peace Corp.  Even if he would be against legalization, I would probably give his opinion more respect that some other politicians I could think of...

NORML Is a common one. I'm not sure what being a member entails, but if you look to the right side of the page, there are updates of upcoming legislation votes, as well as ones that have been denied. An easy way to start off would to be to keep updated on those, and use them to create awareness flyers / petitions etc. It's a start. Also, check out here for activist happenings, and lists of several other activst groups.

I don't think it should be, we will have more idiots on unemployment sitting around eating nachos and stuff because they are "tripping balls".

You don't "trip balls" on pot.

You get stoned and continue on with your day.
